The Director of Aviation is a unique and seldom available opportunity to lead a team of highly qualified and professional pilots and maintenance personnel, and work with the country’s most significant private landowner and wood products manufacturer. The Flight Department operates and maintains a fleet of modern business aircraft, including Gulfstream G500, Hawker 4000’s, Pilatus PC24, and a Bell 429 helicopter. This position is based in Redding, California, located in the beautiful outdoor community of Shasta County. Shasta County is home to lakes, mountains, rivers, parks, hundreds of miles of trails, and a variety of other outdoor attractions, making this the perfect place to live, work, and play!

About The Position
• Ensure flight operation success, security, development, and strategic alignment in support of Company objectives
• Manage, schedule, and prioritize all flights in conformance with Company and FAA guidelines
• Lead and supervise a growing team of seven pilots and three maintenance personnel
• Develop, implement, and administer operating policies and procedures for all flight operations
• Establish and maintain standards for flight checks, safety procedures, and aircraft maintenance
• Coordinate all aircraft certification and training programs for pilots
• Evaluate new developments in aviation, including aircraft and equipment
• Assist in negotiating the cost of aircraft and equipment including purchase price, warranties and maintenance
• Monitor, manage, and report on operating costs and budgets for flight operations and hangar/facilities maintenance
• Ensure flight department compliance with all aviation regulations, security protocols, and airport requirements
• Represent the Company by demonstrating and promoting professionalism and exceptional customer service
• Build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with management and regular passengers
• Pilot aircraft as needed to accommodate flight and pilot schedules

Qualifications
• 10 years of experience in the aviation industry, preferably managing private air transportation
• Experienced jet pilot with certifications, or ability to attain such, as needed to fly the Company’s fixed wing aircraft
• Broad aviation background including knowledge of FAA regulations, weather, and air traffic control
• Demonstrated skill in leadership, communication, and ability to inspire a team of aviation professionals
• Willingness to travel frequently, including occasional multi-day trips away from home

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $200,000 to $300,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
