Our Nursery division and Reforestation Center offers qualified candidates an opportunity to become part of a collaborative team that manages our state-of-the-art seed center and conifer nursery. Work alongside professionals at our technologically advanced and innovative Reforestation Center in the beautiful Shasta Valley of Northern California. Recognizing this being a team-oriented and hands-on position, living in the general
Siskiyou County area is essential.
About the Position- Oversee conifer seedling production, including project management and greenhouse logistics such as layout, sowing, and weeding and thinning needs
- Manage daily operation of production including sowing, transplanting, thinning, weeding, harvesting, and order processing
- Monitor and ensure product quality
- Lead through example and supervise a team of seasonal laborers
- Develop client relationships, and lasting partnerships
- Assist customers with purchasing seed and seedlings, as well as packing/shipping needs
- Some travel is necessary to professionally represent the nursery at trade shows and other events
Qualifications - Bachelor s Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or other related field, or 3 years of Nursery management experience
- Strong working knowledge of conifer propagation and management along with the effects of the environment, nutrition, and technical factors on plant growth
- Knowledge of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides is preferred
- Demonstrated skill in leadership, communication, motivation, and people management
- Strong self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proven ability to thrive in a constantly changing work environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
